my blog is hit by some guy leaving his pee marks again (have had that problem about year ago):
"why need camera? get from web lik befour. you photo no yours always. "
"O god, so bad photos, plees give up. Took by 5 years old?"
"maybe you nede specticle?"
anybody out there getting anonymous comments (often calling himself "?????" and writing very bad english), like i do every now and then - please leave a note here.
i am pretty sure i know who is behind this, but would like if there is others that he attacks. please leave a note or get in contact with me, if you have similar problems.
thx & cheers,
eidea

you can make your blog more private.
non photobloger subscribers can be stopped from viewing your blog.
as well you can chose to not allow non members to comment.

thx, i know this... i just don't like it. i'd like to keep my profile as open and public as possible, for me that's the main reason why to have an online photoblog.
but maybe you're right, i'd either have to stand a certain amount of crazy people then or just delete entries i dislike.

you can just only allow members to comment, and allow anyone to view.

It's not fun to have that happen. I have never had my comments commentable by non-photoblog people but am sure a lot of crap would happen if it was left open.

claude,
try it out... maybe for a while!
it helps to understand reality when you see how many a**holes actually still make the effort to annoy everyone else. otherwise you might start feel too comfortable in the protected environment we all try to live in... ;-)

I've had some, from time to time. My blog is completely open to comments and views. I figure that's the inevitable outcome of anything anonymous, and I accept it.
Cowards need something to do, I suppose. I take it as an opportunity for practicing an emotional boundary - Anything anonymous and stupid is deleted in the same way I would scrape shit off the bottom of my shoe - as quickly and completely as possible.
Really, considering anyone can say anything, it is amazing how few stupid comments we see around here. You tend to make playful/critical comments, so you know that's going stir up some angry, humourless people.

Been there. Done that. Got the *I've been stalked on Photoblog T-shirt...*
Stalker entries are at their best, pathetic. I have found it's best to just delete and ignore...

Yeay!
I have my first anonymous comments!!! And it has been opened for weeks! See. Stalkers only come to juicy people. They don't come to mine: they run off when they see the lengh of the texts.
Will keep you informed of the progress (I promise I won't, personally, make my own obsessed incognito comments and then complain about it)

I go away for 5 days and what happens? I have had atleast 20 '?????' comments!
I wouldn't have been bothered, however, the whole reason I leave my blog open for anon. comments, is that my 10 year old niece regulary visits my blog, as does my Father and a few friends. It wasn't particulary nice for them to have been able to read "your pics of f**king shit" blah blah.

I just noticed one of these comments in your intergalactic post... what an absolutely awful thing to happen, and so disrespectful... I made sure I felt it known what I thought without detracting from the essence and cleverness of your post, Emma.
To me, jealousy seems the main motivation for a person like that.

I've just noticed one of my blog "friends" has been stalked and I've just been invited by the stalker, to become a "friend" - I declined.
It's sad to see it here but the trolls have been on-line as long as there's been an on-line, and they probably will always be, (don't feed them by replying please, let them starve of attention).
My (inconsequential) blog (for my own amusement) is left open to members because I'm happy to let people have a laugh. I'm happy for feedback (constructive would be nice) if people feel so inclined, but I don't open it to "the world" because I just know how many weirdos are out there. At least by limiting to blog members I only get the weirdos who can be bothered to join...
I may have made myself a target for this particular idiot by rejecting his "friend" (or should it be "fiend") request, good luck to them, at least if he wastes his time on me he's leaving other folks alone for a while.

i got hit too and i sure know who is it in my case, someone i pissed of by flavoring their self-portrait. i really loved it, it was so bad taste and so smelling of despair and hanging onto some fading thing. i really loved it, though and i am sad its gone. but i don't mind bad comments. its life. there is a lot of sad people around.

I too get hit & I do know who it is. I'm sure it's the same low life psycho who is attacking Terryl, we share the same friend who is the object of his attacks. I agree with some of the others comments above, he feeds on attention & the best way to deal with it is to report him to the blog administrators, block him, and delete. Talk about having no life, it's pathetic how much time & negative energy he wastes with his futile efforts.

@makaid: i agree. but it looks like the admins of this site can't handle the load. we might just have to fight against the scum like that one above by our own.

you are probably correct. It seems more people are joining every day. I don't know how they can handle it as it is.
I don't mind getting negative comments, as long as they are honest. But if someone is just spamming, I will not leave their comments up.

ok - the entry i^me and makaid were relating to (below jannie's) has been deleted. good. i stand corrected about the admins of the site, they ARE still alive and kicking. good as well.
as for spammers and stalkers and nasty people's comments, it's good that they can be deleted. i personally have kept all their stuff in my comments, because i believe that they are debunking themselves - everyone reading what they write is able to judge themselves what kind of ridiculous nonsense it is.
in a world where negative hypes are at least as effective as positive ones, the only weapon against spammers, stalkers and all these exploiters of publicity - is ignoring them.
